Introducing the Iliacus Release!
But first, what's the Iliacus, you ask?
In short, it's a muscle that runs alongside your psoas, sometimes collectively referred to as the iliopsoas. However, the iliacus is now the preferred term.
Consider this a quick anatomy lesson!
Now, let's get to why I love this release move—it's my go-to as a "master rib thruster."
If you think you have a "sway back," this one's tailored for you.
The Iliacus Release provides several benefits, including:
- Alleviating low back pain.
- Delivering an effective hip flexor stretch.
- Calming your nervous system.
I personally like to perform the Iliacus Release before the Psoas Release (as seen in yesterday's post) because my lumbar region sometimes can't handle the Psoas Release right away.
Give it a shot, fall in love with it as I have, and then explore the variation with the hip flexor stretch!
